On March 13th at 7 pm, our distinguished theater opened its spring production of Something Rotten, directed by Lauren Schene and Chrissy DuBey. It was a dazzling performance, featuring tap numbers, rivalry, and brilliant wordplay. The show itself proved highly entertaining and was executed marvelously.
This musical followed a young man as he attempted to write something better than Shakespeare himself, only to end up giving him his best work in the process. It was witty and drew on elements from dozens of Broadway musicals. The cast was spirited and fit their roles so well. It was so incredible to see the amount of talent coming from our own school.
The lights and set were also so impressive, to say the least. They had quick shifts in tone from both the cast and the crew, efficient scene transitions, and an upbeat, well-timed orchestra.
So many people, whether they be cast, crew, or orchestra, came together to accomplish something great. It was a beautiful example of teamwork, talent, creativity, and the sheer dedication of our Spalding arts community.
