This year’s Christmas performances showcased our school’s exceptional talent and festive spirit through a series of well-loved events.
As Spalding has done for the past 10 years, a small concert during the school day was held for the grandparents of the freshman, as well as a couple of middle schools and residents of Spring Arbor of Crofton, a nursing home, giving families and friends a very special opportunity to enjoy their student’s musical abilities and celebrate the holiday season together.
That night, the main Christmas concert followed, featuring our wide range of ensembles. The guitar ensemble performed their usual and highly anticipated mash-up of “Stairway to Heaven” and “Carol of the Bells.” The Women’s Choir, Chromosome Y, and Mixed Choir each performed during the concert, presenting confident harmonies and their strong sense of holiday joy, with some memorable songs like “Deck the Halls,” “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and “O Holy Night. Our band and strings also showcased their talent, with Sleigh Ride and The Christmas Symphony.” Every ensemble’s performance reflected their weeks of preparation and amazing musical talent.
Right before our Christmas break, the guitar ensemble and choirs returned to perform for our student body at the school assembly, and after the teachers joined in with their rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas, which made every student in the audience laugh as the teachers hilariously acted the song out on stage, and brought the season to a cheerful close for everyone involved at Spalding.
