Reflecting on this year’s winter season, the Spalding Men’s Swim Team delivered an outstanding performance! From late-night practices stretching to 9 p.m. to beating school records to memorable karaoke bus rides, the Cavaliers pushed beyond their limits.
Although the season opened against a Strong McDonogh Squad, the Cavaliers responded with determination, defeating Loyola for just the second time in program history to secure a 3-2 record! In addition, the team reached a new milestone with 20 swimmers from both Varsity and Junior Varsity qualifying for the National Catholic Swimming Championships. That Meet added another historic chapter to the program, as the Cavaliers broke two school records!
School Records:
- 100 Backstroke – Will Rosenthal (52.39)
- 400 Free Relay – Tim Williams, Carter Williams, Will Rosenthal, Cody Winn (3:15.96)
The Cavaliers placed 5th overall at the MIAA Championships, but the final standings told only part of the story. The energy on the pool deck reflected the heart of the program, as swimmers constantly supported one another and brought enthusiasm to every event. Several of our athletes turned in standout performances and advanced to finals:

With 13 seniors graduating, the team now looks ahead while honoring those who helped shape the program. Their dedication and legacy will have a lasting impact. Team Captains Carter Williams, Tim Williams, Cody Winn, and Eli Zapata provided strong leadership throughout the winter.
Senior Will Rosenthal will continue his swimming career at the Division I level at Providence College. Other seniors, such as Carter Williams, Eli Zapata, David Stanley, and Cody Winn, are also interested in continuing the swim sport at the club level in college.
The team’s culture was strengthened by Zack Richard Alban and Bryan McKernan, whose unmatched enthusiasm ensured that every swimmer felt supported and encouraged! Their mindset was best captured in a phrase often heard on deck: “If you’re not in the pool, you should always be on the deck cheering!” As a closing remark, the team also extends its gratitude to Coach Chip, Coach Devin, and Coach Max for their leadership in guiding the Spalding Men’s Swim Team through another memorable and successful season–with many more to come!
