One more spirit week and homecoming for the books! From October 16th to 20th, Spalding students showed their spirit by showing off their fun and creative outfits. Monday was our first dress-down day of the year, so it was an exciting day to show our individuality. Tuesday was Jersey Day, which the student body got to pick through a heated Google Form survey. Students and teachers got to represent their favorite sports teams! Wednesday was Character Day, which is always a fan favorite. There were many different and fun costumes like superheroes, nurses, cars, Star Wars characters, and so many more! Thursday was class color day, so each grade got to show off their designated color (freshman: purple, sophomores: green, juniors: yellow, and seniors: blue). Some students decided to play in the powderpuff football game outside on Whittles Field. First, the freshmen played the seniors on one half of the field, and the sophomores played the juniors on the other half. As usual, the seniors won, but so did the sophomores did too. The seniors and the sophomores played one more game, but in the end, the seniors did end up winning. Finally, the last day of the week was Spalding Spirit Day. Students wore their favorite Spalding gear and spent the day at the pep rally, which included fun games to excite us for the homecoming festivities. Then, we had the opportunity to go outside for the Spirit Fair. There were so many things to do! They had club booths set up so we could buy candy or bracelets to support our favorite clubs. They had Kona Ice, great music, and even puppies we could play with!
Of course, then comes the homecoming football game. Unfortunately, we ended up losing the game, but we put up a very good fight against a highly-ranked Saint Joseph’s Prep team. Students still supported the team by filling the student section, even in the pouring rain. Of course, the night that all these days were for, the homecoming dance! Homecoming was another success. With the underclassmen in the Old Gym and the upperclassmen in the New Gym, students got the chance to have the best time. The cafeteria was open for snacks, drinks, cornhole, and a photo booth. Through this very fun-filled week, we got to represent our school and have a great night at homecoming!
