Once a year, a fantastic experience comes to Spalding. Magic fills the air in the form of music at the annual Christmas concert. Every year before Christmas, the Spalding music department performs a series of carols at the concert, dazzling the audience with their musical performances and skill. The excellent music instructors, Mr. Hemming, Mr. Sturgis, and Mr. Shatt, outdo themselves each year with their selection of music.
Orchestra, string ensemble, band, wind ensemble, Mixed Chorus, percussion ensemble, Chorus 101, and guitar ensemble performed various terrific pieces at the Christmas concert on December 13th. Mr. Hemming conducted the guitar ensemble to a thrilling performance full of excitement. The guitarists performed electrifying carols that delighted the audience and raised Christmas spirit. One of the more exciting performances was a song arranged by a Spalding student, and it was an instant crowd favorite.
The orchestra, wind ensemble, band, string ensemble, and percussion ensemble were all conducted by Mr. Sturgis. Each group had stellar performances that brought Christmas cheer to the listener and a smile to the face as they displayed their musical talent and skill. It was a beautiful and heartfelt performance. Percussion brought down the house with their songs. Strings put on lively carols. The orchestra executed their pieces perfectly. The wind ensemble raised the roof with their Christmas carols.
Mr. Shatt conducted Mixed Chorus and Chorus 101, and several stunning and heartwarming carols were performed in a joint performance. Together with Mixed Chorus and Chorus 101, the orchestra, band, and string ensemble performed several traditional Spalding pieces and the finale, earning a very enthusiastic standing ovation at the end of the Christmas concert.
