As we approach this new school year, we also have Father Luke Koski, a new chaplain, with us. He has brought two wonderful new activities to our school that are open to everyone: after-school adoration and confession.
“I think that Jesus desires to be with us,” shared Fr. Luke, “He left us His very presence. What a gift of love, right?” Adoration is a time for us to be with Jesus, to see His very presence right before our eyes. No one loves us as much as Jesus loves us; He looks at us with more love than anyone else. Because of all this love, He left us a great gift.
Confession is one of the great gifts that Jesus left us; the priests in confession act as God’s representative and allow us to experience His mercy. Father Luke stated, “The confessional is the place where sinners return back to their father’s house.” Confession is an opportunity to patch up all the cracks in a person’s relationship with God. Even though Catholics should go once a year, Fr. Luke invites any person of any background to come. He can offer you advice and be a great person to talk to about your struggles. Guidance on how to go to confession is provided through different materials and our school’s wonderful campus ministers.
Father Luke is a priest for all of us. He does not want us to feel like we bother him when we ask him a question. He wants us to come and talk to him, as he gave up marriage and a family to spend time with us and help us grow. “One in Christ” is our school motto, which means we are all united under Christ and we can come together to find the love of Christ in the sacraments.
