Over the summer a group of Cavaliers traveled to D.C. to immerse themselves in a new community to serve those around them. They showed humility and openness, learning about the complex causes of poverty, inequality, and marginalization in the D.C. area. Throughout this trip, they shared that this is what Jesus calls all of us to do.
Maggie McInerney ‘25 shared that, “it was really cool to talk to all the people who were retired and just spent their time serving the people in D.C. and also talking and getting to know the people we were serving.”
Ms. Dorsett shared a similar experience stating, “It was amazing for me to see how many people have committed their careers and their lives to be of service to the people of DC. The volunteers and employees of the non-profits we visited built meaningful relationships with the people they served…making impactful services for the DC community. These volunteers and employees were wonderful embodiments of answering the Gospel call to dignity, justice, and compassion, and I am so proud of our students for jumping right in there with them!”
Cavaliers are continuously stepping into action and responding to Jesus’ call to help those around them. We are very proud of all those who went on mission trips this summer and they have inspired us to serve more in and outside of school!
