Meet the Board Game Club!

From seniors to freshmen everyone is welcome to join in on the game boarding fun. The club
holds holiday themed parties and the upcoming Easter party is the club’s biggest event of the
year. Founder and President Ariel McCoy and returning members can vouch for the fun times

they’ve shared.

“I am a very busy person and I do a lot of things involved in the school but I never had anything
to do on Wednesdays. So, instead of just doing nothing, I decided to do something better with
myself and I founded the club.” — Founder and President, Ariel McCoy.

Origin Story
The club found its origins in playing Anti-Matter Matters, an intense physics game, with teacher
moderator Mrs. Pedder. The club has expanded to a wide variety of games including a new card
game centered on seeing who is the best at persuading others to join an imaginary and outrageouscause. Classics like Monopoly,
Apples to Apples, and Clue are included as well.

Today
Into its second year, the Board Game Club is still going strong. President McCoy said the club
has doubled in size. The club typically consists of 6 – 10 people which meets each Wednesday.
Senior members predict the longevity of the club will live on under the leadership of the current
underclassmen.

“It [Board Game Club] makes me talk to people who I really wouldn’t have. You can meet new
people and make new friends.” — Garret Miller 2020’ Board Game Manager

The opportunity to spend time with other students and simply enjoy an afternoon with games,
pizza, and friends is the main appeal of the club. Interested students can join the club every
Wednesday after school in room 304.

We’re like a family. We make sure everyone knows when we having a meeting, and we all
come and play games. Once you’re officially in the club, you stay in the club,” said Ariel McCoy.
Be there or be board.
