On April 2, Spalding hosted its annual spring blood drive, maintaining the school’s motto of One in Christ. Organized in partnership with the American Red Cross, the event united students, staff, and local community members in a unified effort to support those in need.
Throughout the day, the New Gym was transformed into a donation center, with over 30 volunteers and donors participating. The event was run thanks to the efforts of the organizing team and a group of student volunteers: Luke Farley, Piper Andros, Bryan Mckernan, John Robuck, and Morgan Bucht.
Participants moved through a thorough process, from check-in to donation and recovery. Volunteer students helped guide donors, offered snacks and drinks, and maintained a positive environment. Posters and announcements helped raise awareness leading up to the event and helped drive turnout.
The blood drive is a great time to help educate students about the importance of donation. The event supports a critical healthcare need and serves as a powerful reminder of what a school community can accomplish when it works together. Organizers plan to build on this momentum with another drive in the fall, aiming for greater participation and impact.
The blood drive’s success highlights the strength of Spalding student leadership, community involvement, and the simple yet beautiful act of giving.
