Archbishop Spalding has been known for its exciting senior activities, but one that had never truly stood out to me until I experienced it was Senior Breakfast. I was excited about this event, but never to the fullest extent. I was left in awe after Friday, April 19, 2024. I am slightly overwhelmed as a senior with days left in her high school experience. The senior breakfast brought a relaxed atmosphere, slowing the stress of prom and graduation. It helped me reminisce about my high school memories, and look back to freshman year which made me and my friends laugh endlessly.
The presentations of the senior superlatives added an extra layer of togetherness and joy. It was a way to celebrate every individual’s achievements and unique contributions to the Spalding community. Whether the superlatives were “Class Clown” or “Most Likely to Brighten your Day,” receiving a senior superlative is a special moment for the Spalding students to validate and affirm a student’s place among their peers.
Furthermore, the senior breakfast allows us to openly see how much our teachers and staff care for us. Between the decorations and breakfast, I was incredibly impressed. When I entered the hall that led into the new gym, I was surrounded by flowers and coconuts that brought a tropical vibe along with them. When I entered the new gym, I was greeted with a large volcano spewing lava and a tiki bar filled with many fun accessories. Although there may have been a wait, it was worth it when I realized that Sage Dining was in charge of our breakfast. The smoothies and pancakes were finished within minutes and also left me with a feeling of security as I have known these people who have worked at our school for three years. They are the nicest people I have ever met, complimenting us on our outfits and making a delicious breakfast. Our school does so much for the seniors so that we can have an enjoyable last year of high school, and with this celebration, it is safe to say that I will miss Spalding so much. Through the Senior Breakfast, laughter and recognition brought the class of 2024 together to celebrate the bright futures that lie ahead, all because of Spalding.
