As spring arrives, so do our incredible sports teams! We have 9 different spring sports and lots of competition. Lacrosse is very popular and the girls’ team is 7th in the country, making it very competitive. Their biggest rival is St. Mary’s, but every game counts. On the boys’ lacrosse team, Coach Hockel says, “Any conference game is a game you want to win. Any county game is really important. Severn and St. Mary’s – it means a little more.” Spalding Baseball’s biggest rival is Calvert Hall and Spalding Softball’s is McDonogh. Both teams are extremely competitive so we can expect some good games to watch. Rugby and Sailing are newer to Spalding but nonetheless very impressive. The top sailing rival this season is Severn. Girls’ Golf and Boys’ Golf are also starting up and the top three matches to watch are against St. Mary’s, Bryn Mawr, and Loyola Blakefield. Finally, Outdoor Track & Field faces top competition in meets against Calvert Hall and McDonogh. Spring sports largely shape our school community at the end of the school year so try to go out and support your fellow Cavaliers at every game!
