The Junior Ring Dance is a very exciting social event for juniors at Spalding. Showing off their new, fancy rings and sharing a dance, it’s a time for juniors to indulge in their splendors! All juniors are welcome to attend, and it is a marvelous opportunity to socialize with friends and have tons of fun. A class ring is also symbolic, as it represents students becoming upperclassmen. The whole of the junior class looks forward to both the dance and rings, as they formally begin their upperclassmen journeys!
Every year, juniors vote on the theme of the upcoming dance, held early December. This year’s theme was “Night at the Oscars”, as juniors had their photos taken by “paparazzi” dressed in their glittering gowns and flawless tuxedos. Snacks and drinks were provided by parent volunteers, as a DJ bopped out sick beats in the gym. The cafeteria, hallway, and gym were meticulously decorated by parent volunteers who put their hearts into it. You could believe that you were really at the Oscars as you danced the night away, and mingled with friends.
Receiving a ring is a very important milestone in your high school journey. Though it is not mandatory to order one, receiving one is the visible “mark” that juniors officially become upperclassmen. The accompanying dance is open to all juniors, whether you own a ring or not.
